Art Improvement - Subject 2: Quickstrike

I finished this today around 8 in the morning (on June 22, 2015).

Thank you , for authorizing me to draw your character as a subject to assist me during my art improvement-practice.

Quickstrike's pelt is very smooth and beautiful; the color had reminded me more than once of Maltese tigers while I had been working with him. Despite myself not being very into using unnatural colors in animals, the simplicity of Quickstrike's design made him an exception.
Looking at this completed piece, along with other pieces, I have noticed I tend to draw wolves' fur quite dense, especially around the cheeks and neck, and a couple of more other areas. I believe it is safe for me to say that I somewhat comprehend the logic of using other colors to darken another color in specific rather than using black to serve the purpose, due to my belief of making the mistake of using black to darken some areas instead of using a different color.
